Mortal Kombat

I have long envisaged a skilled, watchable remake of the cult classic Mortal Kombat. While the original was not 'great cinema' it was enjoyable and worlds better than what followed.

Mortal Kombat is the kind of movie where there are fans dreaming their ideal cast around the world. I have a little cast list of my own to add. SO here goes.

Ronda Rousey as Sonya Blade
Ronda has proven that she is a powerful fighter in the ring, and on screen. She is the ideal candidate for this role.

Jason Statham as Johnny Cage
Breaking away a little from Johnny Cage's americanism, I think that an aging action star has a lot more pressure to prove that he still has what it takes, which is Johnny Cage's motivation in the games, alongside his quest to prove that what he does is for real and not fake.

Jean Claude Van Damme as Lord Raiden
I enjoyed watching Christopher Lamberts portrayal in the 1995 film so much, and with JCVD's cocky portrayal of Jean Villain in Expendables 2, I just had to cast him. Besides Belgian is pretty close to French.

Zhang Ziyi as Princess Kitana
She is hot and can fight. And can pull off the distant snootiness of a princess with relative ease.

The Great Khali as Goro
Cos he is big, really big.

Hugh Jackman or Russell Crowe as Kano
Kano is an Aussie so I thought it only fitting to have an Aussie play him. Both Jackman and Crowe have the uncanny ability to play characters who in themselves are actually asses, but somehow make us like them.

Ray Park as Sub Zero/ Scorpion / Reptile
Darth Maul... says it all.

Chow jun fat as Shang Tsung
We need somebody with some real presence for this role. This is a sorceror who has been around for generations and has a lot of victories under his belt. No cheesey second rate actor will do. Chow Jun Fat is the only one for me in this role.

with cameos

Wesley Snipes as Jax
Dwayne Johnson as Shou Kahn

This is simply my opinion. If you agree or have other suggestions for the casting then let me know in the comments box below.
